Avoid Getting Sick When You Go Work Out

Gyms are the perfect place to get in shape, but they’re also a perfect breeding ground for germs, which thrive in a warm and sweaty atmosphere. Next time you head to work out, decrease your chances of picking up germs while you’re there.

The first thing you can do is keep your feet covered at all times – even in the shower, sauna, steam and hot tub rooms since their climates are a popular home for germs. Instead of going barefoot, wear flip-flops. Also don’t share. Borrowing things like soap and deodorant is an easy way to start circulating germs.

Another way to stop the spread of germs is to disinfect gym equipment before you use it with antibacterial spray or wipes. Drinking fountains are also a favorite place of germs, even if the gym provides cups. Bring your own water to avoid the bacteria and viruses that hang out around the water cooler. Avoid touching your face while working out to prevent germs from entering the nose, mouth, eyes or ears. Finally, shower when you’re done exercising. If you don’t have time to shower at the gym, wash your hands thoroughly before you leave.
